Quercetin + Sitagliptin
Sitagliptin brand names: Januvia, Zituvio.
Quercetin has a moderate interaction with Sitagliptin. Theoretically, concomitant use of quercetin and antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Sitagliptin
Sitagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Quercetin interacts with.
Clinical research suggests that a combination of quercetin, myricetin, and chlorogenic acid reduce levels of fasting glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, including those already taking antidiabetes agents. The effect of quercetin alone is unknown.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: quercetin may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. So if you take a quercetin supplement alongside sitagliptin (Januvia), the two could add up and push your sugar a little lower than expected. This isn't because quercetin changes how Januvia is broken down. It's just two things nudging blood sugar in the same direction.
Honestly, the evidence here is on the weaker side, and most of it comes from quercetin combined with other plant compounds, not quercetin alone. Sitagliptin by itself rarely causes low blood sugar, but watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or a fast heartbeat, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Food amounts of quercetin shouldn't be a worry. Before starting a high-dose supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Quercetin
What is Quercetin?
- Seasonal allergies
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood pressure health
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Exercise recovery
Quercetin is a plant flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in many common foods and sold as a supplement. While early research is interesting for allergies, blood pressure, and inflammation, strong human evidence is limited for most uses. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking high-dose supplements.
About Sitagliptin
What Is Sitagliptin Used For?
Brand names: Januvia, Zituvio
Sitagliptin is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is available as tablets (Januvia, Zituvio, and generic sitagliptin products) and as an oral solution (Brynovin), all approved for this same use.
Sitagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes. It has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis, so its safety in that group is unknown.

Sitagliptin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Sitagliptin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Quercetin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
