Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 1 (OAT1) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Sulbactam, Durlobactam
Sulbactam, Durlobactam falls under ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 1 (OAT1) SUBSTRATES — the group Quercetin interacts with.
In vitro research shows that quercetin is a strong non-competitive inhibitor of OAT1, with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values less than 10 mcM. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Xacduro (a hospital-only IV antibiotic combining sulbactam and durlobactam) is cleared largely by your kidneys, and one of the doorways that helps move it out is a transporter called OAT1. In lab tests, quercetin can block OAT1. In theory, blocking that doorway could let these antibiotics build up a bit more than usual, which might raise the chance of side effects.
Here is the reassuring part: this is test-tube evidence only, and it has never actually been reported in real people. Food amounts of quercetin are very unlikely to matter, and since Xacduro is given in the hospital for serious infections, your care team is already monitoring your kidneys closely. Still, mention any quercetin supplements to your doctor or pharmacist so they have the full picture.

Quercetin is a plant flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in many common foods and sold as a supplement.
