Mefenamic Acid falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to break down mefenamic acid (Ponstel). In lab dishes, a compound in Rabdosia rubescens called oridonin seems to speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, your body might clear mefenamic acid a little faster, which could make it work less well for your pain or menstrual cramps.
Now, the honest part: this has only been seen in test-tube studies, never in actual people, and it's rated a minor interaction. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Mefenamic acid is usually taken short-term, which lowers the concern even more. Still, if you plan to use this herb regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor first.
