Morphine Sulfate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.

Rabdosia rubescens might increase levels of p-glycoprotein substrates. In vitro research shows that Rabdosia rubescens extract inhibits p-glycoprotein levels and activity. Drugs that might be affected include some chemotherapeutic agents (doxorubicin, etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), protease inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), H2 antagonists (cimetidine, ranitidine), some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, verapamil), digoxin, corticosteroids, erythromycin, cisapride (Propulsid), fexofenadine (Allegra), cyclosporine, loperamide (Imodium), quinidine, and others.

Here's the gist with morphine. This herb has been shown, in test-tube studies only, to block a transporter called P-glycoprotein. That pump helps move morphine around and out of your body. If it gets slowed down, a bit more morphine could hang around than expected.

Morphine is the active painkiller itself (not a prodrug that needs switching on), so more of it in your system could mean stronger effects: extra drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or in a worst case, slowed breathing. I want to be straight with you, though: this is based on lab data, not real people, so it's a theoretical concern rather than a proven problem. Still, since morphine is potent, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Morphine is used to manage acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) pain that is severe enough to need an opioid and that hasn't been adequately treated by other options. The higher-concentration liquid form is reserved for adults who are already opioid-tolerant — meaning their body is used to opioid medications.

Because of real risks of addiction, misuse, and overdose, morphine is only prescribed when other pain treatments have not worked or are not expected to work. It is not intended for long-term use unless the pain continues to be severe and no alternatives are suitable.
