Quinapril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Rehmannia interacts with.

Theoretically, rehmannia might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that rehmannia may have hypotensive effects. Laboratory research shows that formulations of dried and processed rehmannia root inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE).

Here's the simple version: Quinapril is an ACE inhibitor, meaning it lowers your blood pressure by blocking the ACE enzyme. Interestingly, lab studies suggest Rehmannia may block that same enzyme a little, and animal studies hint it can nudge blood pressure down on its own. So the concern is that the two could stack up and drop your pressure more than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when standing up. I want to be honest, though: this is based only on lab and animal research, not real patient studies, so it's a theoretical worry rather than a proven one. Still, if you take Quinapril, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Rehmannia, and don't change your medicine on your own.

What Is Quinapril Used For?

Brand names: Accupril, Accupro

Quinapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Quinapril may be used alone or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when one medication isn't enough.

Quinapril tablets are also used in the management of heart failure as an add-on therapy alongside other standard treatments such as diuretics and/or digitalis.
