Here's the thinking behind pairing selenium with Omvoh (mirikizumab). Omvoh is an injectable antibody that calms an overactive immune system to control ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Selenium, on the other hand, may gently nudge the immune system in the opposite direction. So the theory is that a lot of extra selenium could work against what Omvoh is trying to do, possibly making it a little less effective and leading to a flare (belly pain, urgent or bloody diarrhea).

I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from lab and early research, not from real-world reports with this specific drug. Everyday dietary amounts of selenium are very unlikely to matter. If you're thinking about a selenium supplement, just run the dose by your pharmacist or gastroenterologist first.

What Is Mirikizumab-Mrkz Used For?

Brand name: Omvoh

Omvoh (mirikizumab-mrkz) is used to treat moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults — a condition where the large intestine becomes chronically inflamed and ulcerated. It is also used to treat moderately to severely active Crohn's disease in adults, another form of inflammatory bowel disease that can affect any part of the digestive tract.

Both uses are specific to Omvoh administered by injection — first as intravenous (into the vein) infusions to start treatment, then as subcutaneous (under the skin) injections for ongoing maintenance.
