Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

Humalog (insulin lispro) is a fast-acting mealtime insulin that lowers your blood sugar. Shilajit, on its own, has shown a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect in early lab and animal studies. So the concern here is simple addition: if you stack shilajit on top of your insulin, the two together could push your glucose too low.

That means watch for signs of hypoglycemia like shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or feeling lightheaded. Keep in mind the evidence behind this is weak (mostly animal and test-tube data), so it's a possibility, not a certainty. Don't change your insulin dose on your own. If you'd like to try shilajit, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood sugar numbers.
