Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

Here's the gist: shilajit may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you pair it with Linagliptin (Tradjenta), which is already working to bring your glucose down, the two could add up and push your levels lower than intended. On its own, linagliptin rarely causes low blood sugar, but stacking another glucose-lowering agent on top can tip the balance.

Watch for signs of hypoglycemia: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or feeling unusually hungry. Keep in mind this warning comes mostly from animal and lab studies, so it's a possibility rather than a sure thing. If you'd like to try shilajit, check your blood sugar more closely at first and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, since they may want to keep an eye on your numbers.

Tradjenta (linagliptin) is used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is meant to be used together with healthy eating and regular exercise, not as a replacement for them.

Linagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes, and it has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis.
