Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with Tresiba (insulin degludec): this long-acting insulin already lowers your blood sugar all day long. Shilajit appears to nudge blood sugar down on its own too, so stacking the two could push your sugar lower than you intend. That raises the odds of hypoglycemia, which can show up as shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, dizziness, confusion, or feeling unusually hungry.

Honestly, this concern comes mostly from animal and lab studies, so it's more of a heads-up than a red alert. Still, blood sugar is worth respecting. If you want to try shilajit, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor first, check your glucose more often at the start, and don't change your insulin dose on your own.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brands: Insulin Degludec, Tresiba) is indicated to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in patients 1 year of age and older with diabetes mellitus — both type 1 and type 2.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where acids build up in the blood). In patients with type 1 diabetes, it must be used together with a short-acting insulin.
