Strawberry + Pomalidomide
Pomalidomide brand name: Pomalyst.
Strawberry has a moderate interaction with Pomalidomide. In vitro research suggests that strawberry extract can inhibit p-glycoprotein efflux.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Pomalidomide
Pomalidomide falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Strawberry interacts with.
Drugs that might be affected include some chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), protease inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), H2 antagonists (cimetidine, ranitidine), some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, verapamil), corticosteroids, erythromycin, cisapride (Propulsid), fexofenadine (Allegra), cyclosporine, loperamide (Imodium), quinidine, and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: pomalidomide (Pomalyst) is partly moved around your body by a transporter called P-glycoprotein, which acts like a pump that helps push the drug out of cells. Lab studies hint that strawberry extract may slow that pump down. In theory, if the pump works less, a bit more pomalidomide could stay in your system, which might mean stronger effects and more side effects like low blood counts, fatigue, or a higher infection risk.
Now, the important part: this is only test-tube research, not something seen in real patients, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Eating strawberries as food is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated strawberry supplements are the bigger question mark. Since pomalidomide is a serious cancer medicine, just run any strawberry supplement past your oncology pharmacist or doctor first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

About Strawberry
What is Strawberry?
- General antioxidant support
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Blood sugar support
- Skin and oral health
- Source of vitamin C and fiber
Strawberry is a popular, nutrient-rich fruit that supplies vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidant plant compounds. About Pomalidomide
What Is Pomalidomide Used For?
Brand name: Pomalyst
Pomalidomide capsules are used in adults with multiple myeloma (a blood cancer affecting plasma cells) who have already tried at least two prior treatments — including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor — and whose disease has continued to progress. It is given in combination with dexamethasone for this use.
Pomalidomide capsules are also used to treat Kaposi sarcoma (KS) — a cancer that can cause lesions on the skin and in internal organs — both in adults with AIDS-related KS after antiretroviral therapy has stopped working, and in adults with KS who are HIV-negative. The KS indication was approved based on response rate; ongoing studies are confirming long-term benefit.
