Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Strophanthus interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of potassium-depleting diuretics and strophanthus can increase the risk of cardiac glycoside toxicity due to potassium depletion. Some diuretics that can deplete potassium include chlorothiazide (Diuril), chlorthalidone (Thalitone), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril, Microzide), and others.

Your Uniretic combines two blood pressure medicines: hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) and moexipril (an ACE inhibitor). The piece that matters here is the hydrochlorothiazide. Water pills like this one can lower your body's potassium over time, and low potassium is exactly what makes heart-active compounds like those in Strophanthus more dangerous.

Strophanthus contains cardiac glycosides that work much like digoxin. When potassium runs low, these compounds hit the heart harder, which can raise the risk of toxicity: think nausea, vision changes, a slow or irregular heartbeat, and dizziness. This concern is theoretical and based on how the drugs work rather than firm studies, but Strophanthus is potent and not a casual supplement. Please don't combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.
