Thymus Extract and Disopyramide Phosphate

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Disopyramide Phosphate and Thymus Extract in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Disopyramide Phosphate

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Disopyramide Phosphate is filed under 4 classifications — including qt interval-prolonging drugs, anticholinergic drugs, cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates. Thymus Extract has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being immunosuppressants (moderate) — and none of Disopyramide Phosphate’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Disopyramide Phosphate page

“Grapefruit is the first thing I would set aside on disopyramide phosphate (Norpace), a medicine that steadies dangerous heart rhythms, because grapefruit juice can push the drug's blood level up. That pattern dominates the page, since 121 of the 169 flagged ingredients act on the same liver enzyme, CYP3A4, raising the drug's level or,…”

About Thymus Extract

What is Thymus Extract?

  • Immune system support
  • Frequent infections
  • Allergies
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Cancer supportive care

Thymus extract is a glandular product made from the thymus tissue of animals, and it is promoted mainly for immune support. The evidence is mostly limited, preliminary, or from older studies, so it should not replace proven treatments. Because it is an animal-tissue product, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a serious medical condition.

Thymus gland tissue, usually from cattle or sheep · Capsules, tablets, oral liquid, injectable preparations (in some countries)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Thymus Extract is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Thymus Extract record says about it on its own.

About Disopyramide

What Is Disopyramide Used For?

Brand names: Norpace CR, Norpace

Disopyramide — available as Disopyramide Phosphate, Norpace, and Norpace CR — is indicated for the treatment of documented ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular tachycardia (a fast, dangerous heart rhythm), that a physician judges to be life-threatening.

Because this drug can itself cause arrhythmias, it is not recommended for minor or symptom-free arrhythmias. Treatment is started in a hospital setting so the heart can be closely monitored. Antiarrhythmic drugs like disopyramide have not been shown to improve survival in patients with ventricular arrhythmias.
