Here's the practical takeaway for this pairing. The interaction on file is really about your thyroid extract's absorption, not about dihydroergotamine itself. Like other things you swallow, thyroid hormone is absorbed best on an empty stomach, and taking it too close to other oral products can blunt how well it works. So the concern is mostly timing and spacing.

A simple fix is to take your thyroid product on its own, ideally first thing in the morning, and separate it from your migraine medicine and meals by a half hour or more. What Is Dihydroergotamine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Migranal, DHE-45

Dihydroergotamine injection is used to stop a migraine headache once it has started — with or without the visual or sensory warning signs known as aura. It is also used to treat cluster headaches in adults.

It is not used to prevent migraines from happening, and it is not for hemiplegic migraine (migraine that causes temporary paralysis) or migraine with brainstem aura. Brekiya is specifically approved for subcutaneous (under-the-skin) self-injection using an autoinjector device.
