Here's the simple version. Tragacanth is a plant gum that swells into a thick gel when it meets water. Your Diutensen (which combines cryptenamine and the water pill methyclothiazide) is a pill you swallow, so it has to dissolve and get absorbed from your gut. The worry is purely theoretical: that slippery gel could coat things and slightly change how much of your medicine gets absorbed. It might lower it, raise it, or do nothing at all.

If absorption dropped, your blood pressure control could slip; if it rose, you might notice more dizziness, extra urination, or low potassium. Nothing is proven here, but a smart, easy habit is to take your medicine first and wait 30 to 60 minutes before any tragacanth. Check with your pharmacist if you're unsure.
