Here's the practical concern with combining tragacanth and your birth control pill (the ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone combo). Tragacanth is a gel-forming fiber, and when it sits in your gut alongside an oral medication, it can in theory grab onto the pill and change how much of it your body soaks up. With this fiber, absorption could go down, up, or stay the same, so the direction isn't predictable.

For a daily contraceptive, the worry would be reduced absorption, since less hormone getting through could mean weaker pregnancy protection or breakthrough spotting. To be safe, simply separate them: take your pill first, then wait 30 to 60 minutes before the tragacanth. This is theoretical, not proven, but worth running by your pharmacist.
