Here's the thing to keep in mind: tragacanth is a gummy fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach. Because of that gel, it could in theory grab onto a pill like lusutrombopag (Mulpleta) and change how much of it your body actually absorbs. The honest part is that we don't know which direction it would go. It could lower absorption, raise it, or do nothing at all. This is a theoretical concern based on how the gum behaves, not something proven in studies.

Why it matters here: lusutrombopag is given for a short, specific window to boost your platelets before a procedure, so you really don't want its levels nudged either way. To stay safe, simple spacing helps. Take any tragacanth about 30 to 60 minutes after your medicine, and run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Lusutrombopag Used For?

Brand name: Mulpleta

Mulpleta (lusutrombopag) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — a low platelet count — in adults who have chronic liver disease and are scheduled to have a procedure. Raising the platelet count before the procedure helps reduce the risk of bleeding.

Mulpleta is taken for a short, fixed course before the procedure. It is not meant to be used to bring platelet counts all the way to normal, or for long-term management of chronic liver disease.
