Solifenacin succinate falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Tragacanth interacts with.

Theoretically, tragacanth might alter absorption of oral drugs.
Tragacanth contains hydrocolloidal fiber which can decrease, increase, or not affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take tragacanth 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the simple version: tragacanth is a plant gum that swells into a thick gel when it hits liquid. The concern is that this gel could grab onto your solifenacin (Vesicare) in your stomach and change how much of it gets absorbed. In theory it could lower absorption (less help with your bladder symptoms, so more urgency or frequent trips to the bathroom) or shift it the other way. Solifenacin is not a prodrug, so this is purely about how much reaches your bloodstream.

Keep in mind this is only a theoretical worry based on how the gum behaves, not proven in real patients. An easy fix is to take your solifenacin first, then wait 30 to 60 minutes before the tragacanth. If you're unsure, your pharmacist can confirm the timing for you.

Tragacanth is a plant gum used mainly as a thickener and emulsifier in foods, cosmetics, and medicines, and traditionally to soothe the throat and gut. There is very little solid human research showing it treats any specific condition. It is generally considered safe in food amounts, but anyone with allergies or who is pregnant or breastfeeding should check with a pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Solifenacin Used For?

Brand name: Vesicare

Solifenacin tablets (including the brands solifenacin succinate and VESIcare) are approved for adults with overactive bladder — specifically the symptoms of sudden urges to urinate, leaking urine due to those urges (urge urinary incontinence), and needing to urinate very frequently.

VESIcare LS oral suspension is approved for a different use: treating neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) — a bladder control problem caused by nerve damage or a nervous system condition — in children aged 2 years and older. This liquid formulation is dosed by the child's weight.
