Here's the idea behind this pairing. Sertindole (Serlect) works mainly by blocking dopamine in the brain to calm symptoms like hallucinations or disordered thinking. Vitex, on the other hand, is thought to nudge dopamine activity up a bit. Because these two push in opposite directions, the worry is that vitex could partly work against your sertindole and make it less effective at keeping symptoms in check.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's a theoretical concern based only on lab and animal research, not real patient cases, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since stable antipsychotic treatment matters so much, don't start or stop anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or prescriber a heads-up before adding vitex.
