Cell-Press Plus Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Cell-Press Plus against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Cell-Press Plus contains 4 active ingredients. Inulin is a type of soluble fiber that may support digestion and blood sugar control.
Chromium is a mineral that plays a role in how your body processes glucose and may improve insulin sensitivity. The product also contains a proprietary filler blend and natural gums as binders and thickeners.
The remaining inactive ingredients — gelatin, silica, vegetable stearate, titanium dioxide, and FD&C Red #40 — are excipients that form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Inulin is possibly effective for obesity, constipation, and diabetes based on available evidence. For nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and iron deficiency anemia, we don't have enough reliable data to rate it.
Chromium is likely effective for chromium deficiency and possibly effective for diabetes, but the evidence suggests it's probably ineffective for prediabetes, schizophrenia, and high blood pressure. The effectiveness ratings for the other ingredients are not established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Inulin is likely safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It's generally well tolerated, but concentrated supplements often cause gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and cramping — especially at doses over 30 grams.
Rare cases of anaphylaxis have occurred with foods high in inulin. Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses, but we don't have good safety data for higher or long-term doses.
Common side effects include gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, insomnia, and mood changes. Rare serious effects reported include kidney and liver damage, muscle breakdown, low platelet count, and skin rashes.
Chromium supplement doses beyond what's in a balanced diet or prenatal vitamin should be avoided unless your doctor recommends it. We don't have pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information on file for chromium.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check any antidiabetes drugs or insulin you take — chromium and inulin may increase low blood sugar risk. If you take levothyroxine (Synthroid) for your thyroid, chromium may reduce how much you absorb.
NSAIDs and aspirin may increase chromium levels in your body.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cell-Press Plus may be worth considering if you're looking to support digestion or blood sugar control and you don't take medications affected by chromium or inulin. If you're on antidiabetes drugs, insulin, levothyroxine, or regular NSAIDs, you should check your specific medications with a pharmacist before starting.
Expect possible gas and bloating, especially when you first begin.

Cell-Press Plus by Martek Pharmacal Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cell-Press Plus by Martek Pharmacal contains two checked ingredients with documented interactions: inulin and chromium.
Chromium carries the most serious interaction — it's Moderate severity with antidiabetes drugs and insulin, where it may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) by enhancing how your body uses these medications. Chromium also interacts Moderately with levothyroxine (Synthroid), a thyroid medication: chromium may bind to it in your gut and reduce how much your body absorbs, lowering its effectiveness by around 17% in clinical studies.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Inulin carries Minor interactions with antidiabetes drugs — theoretically it could add to their blood-sugar-lowering effect, though the evidence on whether inulin itself lowers blood sugar is unclear. Chromium has two additional Minor interactions: NSAIDs and aspirin may increase how much chromium your body absorbs and retains.
We were not able to check cellulose and natural gums — we hold no interaction data for those ingredients. Altogether, these interactions span 177 individual medications.
If you take any blood sugar medication, thyroid medication, or regular NSAIDs or aspirin, use the interaction checker below with your exact medications before you start.

For each ingredient in Cell-Press Plus with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
Inulin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, inulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia with antidiabetes drugs.
Some clinical research shows that inulin improves glycemic control in patients with diabetes; however, it is unclear if it has hypoglycemic effects.
