What’s inside
Full disclosure
GNC Choline 250 mg is a single-ingredient supplement: 250 mg of choline per tablet. Choline is a nutrient your body uses to support nerve function, brain health, and cell structure.
The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients—microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, silica, talc, and others—that help hold it together and allow your body to absorb it.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for choline on the conditions listed in our data is limited. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, bronchitis, hay fever, liver damage from prolonged IV nutrition, and related concerns, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to say whether it works. If you're considering this supplement for a specific health reason, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether choline is the right choice for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Choline is generally well tolerated at food levels and at the dose in this product (250 mg). The safety data advises against exceeding 3.5 grams daily; higher doses can cause diarrhea, nausea, sweating, vomiting, and a fishy body odor caused by how your gut breaks down excess choline.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, choline needs are higher, but use supplements only as advised by your doctor—don't take extra without professional guidance.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you take atropine, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this choline supplement—it may reduce how well the atropine works in your brain. No other drug interactions are documented for the choline in our data.
