Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: choline bitartrate, a form of choline — a nutrient your body uses to make acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in memory, muscle control, and other brain functions. Each capsule also contains inactive ingredients (hypromellose, maltodextrin, and stearate) that serve as the capsule material and binders.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The evidence on what choline bitartrate actually does is pretty sparse. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's likely ineffective.
For several other uses — including age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer's disease, allergic rhinitis, and a liver condition called TPN-associated hepatic steatosis — we simply don't have enough reliable evidence to say either way. Bronchitis likewise lacks sufficient data.
If you're considering this for a specific reason, it's worth talking through with us.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Choline is generally well tolerated when you stick to normal doses, but high-dose supplements do have a limit: the safe upper intake level is 3.5 grams daily. Above that threshold — especially at 9 grams daily or higher — you may notice a fishy body odor (from how your gut breaks down choline), along with diarrhea, nausea, sweating, and vomiting.
Very high doses like 32 grams have caused more serious gastric upset. Choline is important during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but the safety data advises using only prenatal doses or supplements under your doctor's guidance — not to decide on your own.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
Before you take this, check whether you use atropine or any anticholinergic medication. Minor interaction data exists for atropine; choline may theoretically reduce its effect.
Run your exact medications through the tool below to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Choline bitartrate is straightforward: one ingredient, one minor interaction to watch for (atropine), and solid safety data as long as you respect the 3.5-gram daily ceiling. If you don't take anticholinergic drugs, it's a low-interaction choice.
Talk with us before starting if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any regular medications — we'll make sure there's nothing to worry about.

Choline Bitartrate by Pure Nootropics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Choline Bitartrate by Pure Nootropics has one documented interaction we need to flag.
Choline may theoretically decrease the effects of atropine (an anticholinergic medication used for certain conditions and eye exams). Animal research suggests that taking choline before atropine can lower the drug's effect on brain acetylcholine levels, though the real-world significance in people isn't fully clear.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although we've checked this ingredient thoroughly, atropine is the only drug type with documented interaction data in our files. That said, no interactions are documented for the other 15 individual medications we hold data for — but that's not a guarantee none exist elsewhere.
If you take atropine or any anticholinergic medication, run it through the checker below before you start this supplement. We'd rather you know what you're adding to your routine.

Choline
Atropine
Theoretically, choline might decrease the effects of atropine in the brain.
Animal research shows that administering choline one hour before administering atropine can attenuate atropine-induced decreases in brain levels of acetylcholine. Theoretically, concomitant use of choline and atropine may decrease the effects of atropine.
