Peak Ingredients & Drug Interactions

What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Peak against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Peak by MuscleTech
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Peak contains two active ingredients. PEAK ATP is adenosine, a compound found naturally in your body that plays a role in cellular energy and heart rhythm.
Longjack extract comes from the root of Eurycoma longifolia, a plant traditionally used in Southeast Asia. The product also contains inactive ingredients — maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide — which are fillers and binders used to make the capsule.
Does it work?
Not established
The data on these ingredients is mixed. PEAK ATP (adenosine) is rated effective for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia and for diagnosing cardiovascular disease — though those uses are based on its prescription injectable form given by doctors, not an oral supplement.
Longjack extract shows possibly effective evidence only for sexual desire; its evidence for athletic performance is rated possibly ineffective, and for back pain, osteoporosis, and diabetes the evidence isn't established enough to rate.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The safety picture here is limited and concerning. The data notes that oral adenosine supplement evidence is sparse — the prescription injectable form is potent and must be given only by medical professionals.
When adenosine is given intravenously by doctors, it commonly causes chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, facial flushing, headache, low blood pressure, nausea, and tingling. Rare serious effects include heart rhythm disturbances and cardiac arrest, though those relate to the injectable form.
For oral or intramuscular use, no adverse effects have been reported, but a thorough safety evaluation hasn't been done. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Longjack extract is generally tolerated in short-term studies, but long-term safety is uncertain. Some research suggests it may increase testosterone, which beyond normal range could cause acne, insulin resistance, and liver damage.
The safety data advises against Longjack in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient information and possible hormonal effects.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before taking Peak, double-check with your pharmacist if you take dipyridamole (Major interaction), or carbamazepine or propranolol (Moderate interactions). Also watch for caffeine, aminophylline, theophylline, testosterone products, or any medications that go through liver enzymes CYP1A2, CYP2C19, or CYP2A6 (Minor interactions).
Use the tool below to search your exact medications.
The bottom line

Peak by MuscleTech Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Peak by MuscleTech contains two active ingredients, and together they interact with a significant number of medications.
The most serious interaction involves PEAK ATP (adenosine), which has a Major interaction with dipyridamole (Persantine), a blood vessel dilator used in cardiac testing. Dipyridamole slows how your body breaks down adenosine, which can lead to dizziness, slow heart rate, and fainting — especially during a cardiac stress test.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Adenosine also has a Moderate interaction with carbamazepine (Tegretol), an anti-seizure medication. Both can affect your heart's electrical system, and taking them together raises the risk of heart block.
Additionally, adenosine has a Minor interaction with methylxanthines — that's caffeine, aminophylline, and theophylline — because these compounds block adenosine's effects at the cellular level. You'd want to avoid methylxanthines for 24 hours before or while taking this product.
The second ingredient, Longjack extract, has a Moderate interaction with propranolol (Inderal), a beta-blocker used for heart rate and blood pressure. One small study showed that Longjack reduced propranolol levels by about 29%, which could make the medication less effective.
It also has Minor interactions with several other drug types: it may theoretically raise levels of certain medications metabolized through liver enzymes (CYP1A2, CYP2C19, and CYP2A6 substrates), though this hasn't been confirmed in humans. Longjack can also further increase testosterone levels, which matters if you're on testosterone replacement therapy.
Altogether, these interactions span 261 individual medications. Use the interaction checker below with your exact prescriptions before starting this product.

Longjack extract
Propranolol (Inderal)
Eurycoma longifolia can reduce the levels and clinical effects of propranolol.
A small clinical study in healthy persons shows that taking a single dose of a water-based Eurycoma longifolia extract 200 mg, in combination with a single dose of propranolol 80 mg, reduces the propranolol area under the curve (AUC) by 29%, reduces the peak concentration by 42%, and increases time to peak concentration by 86% when compared with control. Since the elimination half-life of propranolol did not change, it seems that Eurycoma longifolia alters the kinetics of propranolol by decreasing its absorption in the gut, and not by altering its metabolism. It is not known if separating administration will prevent this interaction.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates
Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels of CYP2A6 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP2A6 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Testosterone
Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia may further increase levels of testosterone.
A clinical study in aging males with testosterone levels below 300 ng/dL shows that taking a specific water extract of Eurycoma longifolia roots (Physta; Biotropics Malaysia) 100-200 mg daily with breakfast for 12 weeks increases total testosterone levels by 8% to 11% when compared with placebo. It is unclear whether this increase would occur in individuals with normal testosterone levels.
PEAK ATP
Dipyridamole (Persantine)
Dipyridamole can increase the therapeutic and toxic effects of adenosine.
Dipyridamole decreases the metabolism of adenosine. Intravenous infusion of adenosine in patients who are taking dipyridamole can cause dizziness, bradycardia, and syncope. Dipyridamole should be discontinued for several days prior to a cardiac stress test using adenosine.
Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
Carbamazepine might increase the risk of heart block when used concomitantly with adenosine.
Carbamazepine and adenosine can both cause heart block. Giving them concurrently might produce an additive effect.
Methylxanthines
Methylxanthines are competitive antagonists of adenosine and can block its pharmacologic effects.
The methylxanthines, aminophylline, caffeine, and theophylline, can block the effects of adenosine by acting as competitive antagonists at adenosine cell surface receptors. It is recommended that methylxanthines be avoided for 24 hours prior to cardiac stress tests.
