What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: coenzyme Q10 (also called ubiquinone) at 30 mg per capsule. Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant compound your body makes naturally and uses for energy production in your cells.
The capsule itself is made of gelatin, and the other ingredient listed is cellulose, which helps fill out the formulation.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Coenzyme Q10 is rated likely effective for replacing coenzyme Q10 when your body's levels are low. It's rated possibly effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure, and diabetic nerve damage (neuropathy).
That means there's promising research, but we don't have enough evidence yet to call it definitively effective for those uses. Talk with your doctor about whether this dose and form is right for what you're hoping to address.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Coenzyme Q10 is generally well tolerated when taken as directed. In clinical trials, no serious side effects have been reported.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting — but these occur in less than 1% of people. Some people report headache, dizziness, or insomnia.
Taking divided doses rather than the full dose at once may help reduce stomach upset if you use more than 100 mg daily. There isn't enough safety data during pregnancy to know whether this supplement is safe, so the recommendation is to avoid it during pregnancy unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety while breastfeeding hasn't been well studied either — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for guidance specific to your situation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check your exact medications against our search tool, especially if you take warfarin or other blood thinners, chemotherapy drugs like cyclophosphamide, or blood pressure medications. Warfarin is the most important one to discuss with your pharmacist because coenzyme Q10 may reduce how well it works.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have low coenzyme Q10 levels or are interested in its use for migraines, heart issues, or nerve pain, this is a reasonable starting product at a modest dose. Before you start, check with your pharmacist if you take warfarin, chemotherapy, or blood pressure medication — those need special discussion.

Coenzyme Q10 30 mg by Natural Factors Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Coenzyme Q10 by Natural Factors can interact with a few important medication types.
The most serious concern is with warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner — coenzyme Q10 has a chemical structure similar to vitamin K and may reduce warfarin's ability to prevent clots. Four cases of decreased warfarin effectiveness have been reported.
If you take warfarin, you'll need to discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist before starting coenzyme Q10.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (such as cyclophosphamide) are another moderate-severity concern. Coenzyme Q10's antioxidant activity may theoretically interfere with how these cancer medications work, potentially reducing their effectiveness.
Blood pressure medications are a minor concern — coenzyme Q10 might have a small additive effect that lowers blood pressure further.
Altogether, these interactions span 198 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your prescriptions are affected before you start.

For each ingredient in Coenzyme Q10 30 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
