What’s inside
Full disclosure
This softgel contains one active ingredient: coenzyme Q10 (also called Co-Enzyme Q10), at 100 mg per capsule. CoQ10 is a compound your body naturally produces and uses to generate energy in your cells.
The capsule is made up of soybean oil, gelatin, coconut oil, and several other inactive ingredients that help deliver the CoQ10.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence we hold shows CoQ10 is Likely Effective for treating coenzyme Q10 deficiency itself. For other uses — fibromyalgia, migraine headache, congestive heart failure, and diabetic neuropathy — the evidence is Possibly Effective, meaning research suggests a benefit but the data isn't conclusive enough yet to be certain.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
CoQ10 is generally well tolerated by most adults when used as directed. In clinical studies, no serious adverse effects have been reported.
Gastrointestinal side effects like appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting have occurred, but in less than 1% of participants — and these can often be minimized by splitting doses if you're taking more than 100 mg daily. Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have also been reported in some cases, along with rare reports of skin itching and allergic rash.
There is not enough reliable safety data during pregnancy, so it's best to avoid unless your doctor advises otherwise. Safety while breastfeeding has not been well studied either, so use caution and check with your doctor before taking this supplement if you're breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting this CoQ10, check with us if you take any chemotherapy drugs (alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide) — the interaction is Moderate. Warfarin (Coumadin) is also a Moderate concern, as CoQ10 might reduce its blood-thinning effect.
Blood pressure medications are a Minor consideration, since CoQ10 may lower blood pressure on its own.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
CoQ10 may be worth considering if you have a documented coenzyme Q10 deficiency or if you're exploring it for migraine, heart failure, fibromyalgia, or nerve pain — talk to your doctor first. If you take warfarin, chemotherapy, or blood pressure medications, you'll need to check with your pharmacist before starting.
It's generally well tolerated, but pregnancy and breastfeeding require a conversation with your doctor.

CoQ10 100 mg by Geri-Care Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Geri-Care's CoQ10 100 mg contains one active ingredient — coenzyme Q10 — that has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (like cyclophosphamide). CoQ10 is an antioxidant, and theoretically it may interfere with how these chemotherapy medications work, since they rely on generating free radicals to kill cancer cells.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to flag this supplement if you take warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner. CoQ10 is chemically similar to vitamin K and may have blood-clotting effects that could reduce warfarin's effectiveness — a handful of cases of decreased warfarin response tied to CoQ10 have been reported.
This is a Moderate concern.
Blood pressure medications are a Minor consideration. Some research suggests CoQ10 can lower blood pressure on its own, so combined with your blood pressure drug, your pressure might drop more than intended.
Overall, these interactions span 198 individual medications. If you're on any prescription drug — especially cancer treatments, blood thinners, or blood pressure medications — run it through the medication checker on this page before starting CoQ10.

For each ingredient in CoQ10 100 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Co-Enzyme Q10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
