CoQ10 Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking CoQ10 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Coenzyme Q10, a compound your cells naturally produce and use for energy. It's also called ubiquinone.
There are no other active ingredients and no inactive fillers in this powder — just the CoQ10 itself.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
CoQ10 is likely effective for treating a CoQ10 deficiency. For other uses, the evidence is more limited: it's possibly effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure (weakened heart muscle), and diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage from diabetes).
The word "possibly" means the evidence supports benefit but isn't yet solid enough to call it proven.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
CoQ10 is generally well tolerated. In clinical studies, no serious side effects were reported.
The most common mild effects — seen in less than 1% of people — are stomach upset (appetite loss, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, vomiting). Headache, dizziness, and trouble sleeping have also been reported rarely.
If you take more than 100 mg daily, splitting your dose may help reduce stomach discomfort. Skin itching and allergic rash have been reported in a small number of people.
There isn't enough data to know whether CoQ10 is safe in pregnancy — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice. Safety while breastfeeding hasn't been well studied either, so use caution and check with your doctor first.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before using this if you take warfarin or other blood thinners — CoQ10 may reduce how well they work. Also double-check if you're on chemotherapy drugs (especially alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide) or blood pressure medications, where CoQ10 could affect how they perform.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
CoQ10 may help if you have a documented deficiency or want to try it for migraine, heart function, or diabetic nerve pain — the evidence supports benefit but isn't definitive. If you take warfarin or chemotherapy drugs, you'll need to talk with your doctor first.
Anyone on blood pressure medication should mention it to their pharmacist. Start with this product checker before you buy.

CoQ10 by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CoQ10 by BulkSupplements.com is a single-ingredient powder that does interact with some medications.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulants) — specifically warfarin. CoQ10 has vitamin K-like properties that may reduce how well warfarin works to prevent clots.
A small number of cases have been reported where CoQ10 lowered warfarin's effectiveness.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
CoQ10 may also interfere with certain chemotherapy drugs, particularly alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide. Because CoQ10 is an antioxidant, it could theoretically protect cancer cells from drugs that rely on creating free radicals to work.
Finally, CoQ10 might add to the blood-pressure-lowering effects of antihypertensive medications, though the evidence for this is mixed — some studies show CoQ10 lowers blood pressure, others don't. Altogether, these interactions span 198 individual medications.
Before you start this product, check your exact medications with the search tool below — especially if you take warfarin, chemotherapy, or blood pressure drugs.

For each ingredient in CoQ10 with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
