Calcium
Calcium is a vital nutrient found in various foods such as dairy products, certain vegetables, and many fortified items. Over 99% of the body's calcium is stored in the bones and teeth, predominantly as hydroxyapatite. The remaining calcium circulates in the blood, extracellular fluid, muscles, and other tissues, where it is essential for processes like nerve signaling, muscle contraction, vascular activities, glandular secretion, and maintaining cell membrane and capillary permeability. It also plays critical roles in enzyme reactions, respiration, kidney function, and blood clotting, and is involved in neurotransmitter and hormone release, amino acid uptake, vitamin B12 absorption, and gastrin secretion. Calcium balance changes with age: it is positive during periods of growth, stable in adulthood, and tends to become negative in older age. Calcium loss occurs through feces, urine, sweat, and shedding skin cells. In women, reduced estrogen levels decrease calcium absorption and retention, increase bone turnover, and lead to lower bone mass. Calcium supplements come in various forms, including citrate and carbonate, which differ mainly in their calcium content and absorption rates. Calcium citrate is easily absorbed and can be taken without food, making it suitable for older adults or those with low stomach acid. In contrast, calcium carbonate, which contains a higher percentage of calcium, is best absorbed when taken with meals.

Magnesium
Magnesium is a mineral that is essential for the proper functioning of the body. It plays a role in many important physiological processes, including the contraction and relaxation of muscles, the transmission of nerve impulses, and the regulation of blood pressure. Magnesium is found in a variety of foods, including leafy green vegetables, nuts, and grains, and it is also available as a dietary supplement. There are several different forms of magnesium that are available as supplements, all of which can be used to prevent deficiency. Additionally, magnesium is purported to have several different health benefits, such as improving sleep, reducing muscle cramps, reducing anxiety, and preventing or treating migraines. Although magnesium is essential for health, magnesium-containing foods and supplements can interact with some prescription medications if used at the same time.

Dehydroepiandrosterone
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a natural (i.e., endogenous) hormone produced by the adrenal gland and is among the most abundant steroid hormones in the human body. It is a precursor to the hormones testosterone and estrogen, and it is thought to have various effects on the body. DHEA levels naturally decline with age. It is a popular over the counter supplement that is purported to have a variety of health benefits, including increasing muscle mass, improving cognitive function, improving mood and reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes. The scientific evidence supporting the use of DHEA for these purposes is limited and mixed. Additionally, it could potentially interact with several different medications so if you are considering taking DHEA supplements, it is important to speak with a healthcare professional. DHEA should not be confused with other supplements containing the letters 'DHEA'. 7-alpha-hydroxy-DHEA, 7-beta-hydroxy-DHEA, and 7-keto-DHEA, all contain DHEA as the parent compound with additional structures attached.

Formula |
- Dehydroepiandrosterone
- Andrew Lessman's DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is the most abundant internally produced steroid hormone in the human body. It is primarily produced by the adrenal glands and circulates throughout the body where its most important role is to be converted into our most vital hormones that regulate and affect virtually all metabolic and biochemical processes. Our DHEA 25 is designed to support healthy DHEA levels that decline with age and other factors. It is only intended for use following the testing and recommendation for supplementation by your health care professional. DHEA is among the most critical and important hormones found circulating in the body, but its levels begin to decline following our mid-20s. It is hard to overstate the importance of DHEA, since it affects virtually all our body's organs, systems and metabolic functions. DHEA plays a vital, central role in hormone synthesis, balance and metabolism. Given its role in hormone balance and endocrine function, it should only be utilized with great care and exclusively based upon a test by your health care provider revealing insufficiency. There are currently a growing number of physicians who believe that some aspects of the aging process may relate to prematurely reduced levels of DHEA. It is for that reason that so many physicians now test and monitor their patients' DHEA levels. When DHEA levels warrant external support, DHEA supplementation has been observed to support a healthy aging process. Again, DHEA supplementation should only be undertaken following a test and thereafter under the supervision of your physician or health care provider.
