HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Feverfew & Caffeine by TerraVita
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: caffeine and feverfew glycerite liquid extract. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant, while feverfew is a plant extract traditionally used for headache relief.
The product is formulated in liquid form with glycerin as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Caffeine is effective for neonatal apnea and postoperative headache, and likely effective for mental alertness and athletic performance. It is possibly effective for bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
Feverfew's effectiveness is less established—the evidence we hold does not support a reliable rating for tension headache, prurigo nodularis, psoriasis, or rheumatoid arthritis.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Caffeine is generally safe in moderate amounts for healthy adults, though high doses can cause serious side effects. The safety data advises caution with caffeine during pregnancy due to potential risks, and small amounts pass into breast milk; moderate intake is usually considered acceptable but can affect the baby.
Feverfew is generally well tolerated short-term but can cause allergic reactions and mouth irritation in some people. The safety data advises against feverfew during pregnancy because it may stimulate the uterus and its safety is not established.
There is not enough reliable safety information for feverfew during breastfeeding, so it is best avoided. Discontinuing feverfew after long-term use may cause post-feverfew syndrome, including anxiety, headaches, and insomnia.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take ephedrine or other stimulants (major risk), seizure medications like phenobarbital or carbamazepine, sleep aids like pentobarbital, blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, the antipsychotic clozapine, quinolone antibiotics, dipyridamole for stress testing, cimetidine, or drugs metabolized by liver enzymes CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP3A4, or CYP2C8 (moderate risks for caffeine and feverfew).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Caffeine in this product is well established for alertness and certain medical uses; feverfew's benefits for headache are not well supported by the evidence we hold. The combination carries significant interactions with stimulants, seizure medications, blood thinners, and many other drugs, so check your prescriptions before you start.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or take any regular medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Feverfew & Caffeine by TerraVita Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Feverfew & Caffeine by TerraVita does interact with medications, through both its caffeine and feverfew content.
The most serious concern is caffeine with ephedrine (a stimulant used in some decongestants and weight-loss products)—combining them can increase the risk of dangerous stimulant side effects including high blood pressure and heart attack.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Caffeine also interacts with several other drug types at moderate severity. It can reduce the effectiveness of pentobarbital and other sleep medications, interfere with the blood vessel-opening effects of dipyridamole (used before stress tests), and increase levels of clozapine (an antipsychotic), raising the risk of its side effects.
Certain antibiotics (quinolone antibiotics like ciprofloxacin) and the stomach acid reducer cimetidine can raise caffeine levels in your bloodstream. Caffeine may also reduce the seizure-preventing effects of phenobarbital and carbamazepine, which is a serious concern if you take them for epilepsy.
Feverfew contributes moderate-severity interactions across several medication pathways. It may inhibit liver enzymes that clear drugs including some antidepressants, heart medications, and other common prescriptions—potentially raising their levels and side effects.
Additionally, feverfew can thin the blood and may increase bleeding risk if you're already taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin.
Although no human cases of feverfew's enzyme interactions have been reported yet, the laboratory evidence warrants caution. Altogether, these interactions span 1,213 individual medications.
