HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Functional Synergy Mushroom Capsules Focus Blend by CBDistillery
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This blend has 4 active ingredients: Lion's Mane Mushroom Extract, Cordyceps Mushroom extract, Cannabidiol, and Cannabigerol, plus full spectrum Hemp extract. The first two are medicinal mushroom concentrates; the latter three are cannabis-derived compounds.
The capsule also contains cellulose and medium chain triglycerides oil as inactive ingredients—they're binders and a carrier oil, not active.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for what these ingredients actually do is thin. Lion's mane carries insufficient evidence for cognitive function, Alzheimer disease, anxiety, athletic performance, cancer, and cognitive impairment—basically, we don't yet have solid proof it works for any of these.
Cordyceps is rated Possibly Ineffective for athletic performance and has insufficient evidence for sexual dysfunction, arrhythmia, asthma, lung cancer, and COPD. The effectiveness data we hold doesn't cover cannabidiol or cannabigerol.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lion's mane and cordyceps are generally well tolerated as foods, but long-term supplement safety hasn't been well studied for either. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal—nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, or constipation.
Lion's mane may also cause a skin rash. Cordyceps has a rare case report of liver inflammation, though it's unclear whether cordyceps or a contaminant caused it.
There isn't enough safety data to know whether either mushroom is safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so those aren't recommended without talking to your doctor or pharmacist.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel)—both mushrooms may raise bleeding risk. Also flag diabetes medications, immunosuppressants after transplant or for autoimmune disease, and testosterone therapy.
No interactions are documented for the cannabidiol, cannabigerol, or hemp extract components because we hold no data for them.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a mushroom and cannabinoid blend marketed for focus, but the evidence that it works for cognitive tasks just isn't there yet. If you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or immunosuppressants, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, you'll want to run this by your doctor or pharmacist first.
Most people who take it seem to tolerate it okay, though stomach upset can happen.

Functional Synergy Mushroom Capsules Focus Blend by CBDistillery Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CBDistillery's Functional Synergy Mushroom Capsules Focus Blend contains lion's mane mushroom extract and cordyceps mushroom extract, both of which interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction: both mushrooms may increase bleeding risk when combined with blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin, since research suggests they can slow platelet clumping.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Lion's mane mushroom also carries Moderate interactions with diabetes medications—it may lower blood sugar on top of what your drug already does—and immunosuppressants (drugs that dampen immunity after transplant or for autoimmune disease), which the mushroom may counteract. Cordyceps has the same Moderate concerns with blood thinners, immunosuppressants, and a Minor interaction with testosterone therapy or supplements, since cordyceps may raise testosterone levels further.
Additionally, we could not check the interaction data for cannabidiol, cannabigerol, or the full spectrum hemp extract components—no monograph is on file for them. Altogether, these interactions span 335 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your current drugs appear, then talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Estrogens
Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
Lion's Mane Mushroom Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, lion's mane mushroom may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research suggests that lion's mane mushroom extracts can inhibit platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, lion's mane mushroom may have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that an aqueous extract of lion's mane mushroom can reduce serum glucose and increase serum insulin.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of lion's mane mushroom might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In animal and in vitro research, lion's mane mushroom polysaccharides stimulate the immune system.
Cordyceps Mushroom extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
