Alogliptin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hemp interacts with.

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here's the good news first: this is a very minor, mostly theoretical concern for alogliptin (Nesina). The idea is that hemp might speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which could in theory clear certain medications a little faster. But this comes only from lab and test-tube research, not from real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

On top of that, alogliptin is mostly removed by the kidneys and isn't heavily dependent on CYP3A4, so any effect on your blood sugar control is likely tiny. Eating hemp seeds or using hemp oil as food is especially unlikely to matter. If you're using a concentrated hemp supplement, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your blood sugar readings.

Alogliptin is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, as it would not be effective in those situations.
