Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • “Glutamine Decanate” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label gives one combined amount (5 Gram(s)) without saying how much of each component you get.

This powder contains 4 ingredients total. The active component is L-glutamine, an amino acid your body makes naturally and uses in muscle recovery, immune function, and gut health.

The other three ingredients — decanoic acid, PEG 8000, and PEG 3350 — are inactive excipients that help with the powder's texture and stability.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

L-glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — belching, bloating, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, especially at high doses (10–30 grams daily).

Headache and dizziness have also been reported; one patient's dizziness resolved when the dose was lowered. Very rarely, mania and hypomania have occurred in people with bipolar disorder.

If you have kidney or liver disease, use this product only under medical supervision. There isn't enough safety data to recommend supplemental doses during breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're nursing.

  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: seizure medications.
  • For scale: 50 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take anticonvulsant (seizure) medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product — glutamine may reduce how well your seizure drug works. The New Bodybuilding Standard In Glutamine Supplementation!* GLUTAMINE DECANATE's scientifically advanced purified and potent Glutamine with DecaDrive delivery has set a new standard in amino acid supplementation. Through the development of an advanced pharmaceutical delivery technology, MuscleMeds scientists have created a superior glutamine with enhanced absorption and bio-availability.*

What GLUTAMINE DECANATE Does For Athletes!* Glutamine is one of the most abundant amino acids found in skeletal muscles and throughout the body, dominating the amino acid metabolic pool. Glutamine supplies the metabolic building blocks for creating other amino acids, protein, nucleotides used to make DNA and RNA, and is even involved in energy production. This makes glutamine involved directly in muscle cell growth, protection, fullness and performance. But during prolonged periods of training, glutamine levels typically become depleted faster than the body can replenish them. This is what makes glutamine a conditionally essential amino acid and an important amino acid to supplement to ensure your body is replenished and maintains a positive glutamine balance. Glutamine is also a component of glutathione, one of the body's most important and powerful antioxidants that protects cells and body tissues from free radical damage and breakdown.*

Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is this safe to take while breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety data to know. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice — they can help you decide whether supplemental glutamine makes sense for you while nursing.
What are the most common side effects?
Stomach troubles are most likely — belching, bloating, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, mainly when doses are high (10–30 grams daily). Headache and dizziness have also been reported but are less common.
Will this help me build muscle or recover from a workout?
The data we hold shows glutamine is effective for sickle cell disease and possibly effective for recovery after major surgery, trauma, or critical illness. We don't have evidence established for routine muscle building or typical workout recovery in our system.
Is it safe if I have kidney or liver disease?
