- What's all the buzz on coffee beans about?
Whereby it was largely believed that caffeine is the energizing, fat-burning ingredient in coffee, new research is pointing to chlorogenic acid, a remarkable compound that's found in the unroasted (or green) coffee bean, but which is largely destroyed during the roasting process.
The chlorogenic acid in green coffee has been shown in published studies to help manage weight, improve lean mass to fat ratio, reduce sugar absorption from the intestines and help maintain healthy blood sugar levels throughout the day to help curb hunger. In addition, chlorogenic acid has been shown to speed up the rate of metabolic fat burning and possibly reduce the size of fat cells.
