What’s inside
Low disclosure
Hempanol PM contains 6 ingredients: a proprietary blend containing cinnamon essential oil, extra virgin olive oil, chamomile, hops, oregano, and hemp. The cinnamon essential oil, chamomile, hops, and oregano are traditional herbal ingredients often used to support relaxation and sleep.
Hemp provides plant-based proteins and fatty acids. Extra virgin olive oil serves as a carrier and contributes its own nutritional profile.
No inactive ingredients are listed for this liquid formulation.
Does it work?
Not established
The facts we hold show insufficient reliable evidence to rate any of the conditions these ingredients are traditionally used for — including sleep support, anxiety, or any of the other claimed uses. That means the evidence isn't established yet in the data available to us, not that the product doesn't work, but you should know there's no strong clinical backing we can point to for how well it performs.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cinnamon is generally safe in food amounts but at supplement doses high in coumarin may harm the liver over time; avoid high-dose or medicinal amounts in pregnancy, though food amounts are likely fine. Chamomile is generally well tolerated for most adults but can cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to ragweed and related plants; avoid it in pregnancy unless your doctor approves, and check with your doctor or pharmacist before using while breastfeeding.
Hops is generally well tolerated short-term but may cause drowsiness and long-term safety is not well studied; avoid it in pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data. Oregano is safe as a food but concentrated supplement amounts should be avoided in pregnancy; stick to normal food amounts while breastfeeding.
Hemp seed foods are generally well tolerated, though concentrated extracts are less studied; rare cases of allergic reactions including anaphylaxis have been reported. Olive oil is very safe as food and oil, but concentrated supplements are less studied.
One clinical trial reported a rash with cinnamon, and rare reports exist of allergic reactions to oregano and hemp.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take warfarin (a blood thinner), blood sugar medications, sedating drugs, birth control pills, estrogen therapy, or any medications broken down by your liver, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product. Chamomile's interaction with warfarin is the most serious documented concern.
No interactions are documented for the olive oil in this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Hempanol PM may appeal to you if you're looking for a traditional herbal approach to sleep and relaxation, but evidence for how well it works isn't firmly established. Be especially careful if you take blood thinners like warfarin, diabetes medications, sedating drugs, birth control pills, hormone therapy, or medications processed through your liver — all of which have documented or theoretical interactions with one or more ingredients here.
Talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before adding this product to your routine.

Hempanol PM by North American Herb & Spice Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Hempanol PM by North American Herb & Spice interacts with medications through its cinnamon, chamomile, hops, oregano, and hemp content.
The most serious documented interaction is between chamomile and warfarin (a blood thinner), where chamomile tea at high intake increased bleeding risk — a case reported severe internal bleeding with an INR (a measure of blood thinning) of 7.9. Altogether, these interactions span 1,342 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cinnamon may lower blood sugar and have additive effects with diabetes medications, requiring possible dose adjustments. It also theoretically poses a risk when combined with drugs that stress the liver (hepatotoxic drugs), especially at high doses or long-term use, because cinnamon contains coumarin.
Chamomile raises theoretical concerns with sedative drugs and medications broken down by your liver's CYP2D6, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 enzymes — potentially raising their blood levels. It may also reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills and estrogen hormone therapy through its anti-estrogen activity, and warrants special caution if you take warfarin or the cancer drug tamoxifen.
Hops similarly may add to the sedating effects of sleep aids or anxiety medications, and theoretically may interfere with estrogen therapy. Oregano theoretically increases bleeding risk with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs, and may add to the blood-sugar-lowering effects of diabetes medications.
Hemp may have minor additive effects with blood pressure medications and blood thinners, and may alter how your liver processes certain medications through CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 enzyme induction. Olive oil showed no interactions in our data.

For each ingredient in Hempanol PM with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chamomile
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, German chamomile might have additive effects when used with CNS depressants.
German chamomile has mild sedative effects. Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs with sedative properties can cause additive effects and side effects.
Contraceptive Drugs
Theoretically, large amounts of German chamomile might reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
In vitro, German chamomile has demonstrated antiestrogenic activity. Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of German chamomile might interfere with contraceptive drugs through competition for estrogen receptors.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP2C9 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP2C9. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 in patients taking German chamomile.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP2D6 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP2D6. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking German chamomile.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking German chamomile.
Estrogens
Theoretically, large amounts of German chamomile might reduce the effectiveness of estrogens.
In vitro, German chamomile has demonstrated antiestrogenic activity. Theoretically, large amounts of German chamomile might interfere with hormone replacement therapy through competition for estrogen receptors.
Tamoxifen (Nolvadex)
Theoretically, large amounts of German chamomile might interfere with the activity of tamoxifen.
In vitro, German chamomile has demonstrated antiestrogenic activity.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
German chamomile might increase the effects of warfarin and increase the risk of bleeding.
In one case, a 70-year-old female taking warfarin developed retroperitoneal hematoma and bilateral recti muscle bleeding along with an INR of 7.9 following ingestion of German chamomile tea 4-5 cups daily and use of a topical chamomile-based lotion applied 4-5 times daily.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP1A2 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro and animal research shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP1A2. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 in patients taking German chamomile.
Hemp
Estrogens
Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
Hops
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of hops with sedative drugs might cause additive sedation.
Some animal research shows that hops has sedative effects.
Estrogens
Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of hops might interfere with hormone replacement therapy due to competition for estrogen receptors.
In vitro research suggests that certain hops constituents can competitively bind to estrogen receptors. However, most hops extracts contain very small amounts of these constituents.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Hops extract does not seem to affect the metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that flavonoid constituents of hops inhibit CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, does not affect levels of caffeine, a CYP1A2 probe substrate.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hops extract might alter metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates; however, this effect may not be clinically significant.
Animal research suggests that specific constituents of hops, called lupulones, can induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients with normal metabolism shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, decreases the concentration of alprazolam, a CYP3A4 probe substrate, by 7.6%. This reduction is unlikely to be clinically relevant.
Cinnamon Essential Oil
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
Oregano
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that aristolochic acid isolated from oregano leaves has antithrombin activity. It has also been reported that oregano oil inhibits arachidonic acid-induced, and ADP-induced, platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
In vitro and animal research shows that oregano extracts might lower blood glucose levels.
