Immune Blend contains six active ingredients: beta-glucan, organic reishi mushroom, organic enokitake mushroom, organic shiitake mushroom, organic chaga mushroom, organic agaricus mushroom (also called himematsutake), and maitake mushroom extract. These are all whole-food mushroom extracts or compounds meant to support immune function.
The capsules also contain two inactive ingredients—hypromellose and silica—which are a capsule material and an anti-caking agent.

Not established
The evidence for these mushroom ingredients is mixed. Beta-glucan is likely effective for high cholesterol (dyslipidemia) and heart disease (coronary heart disease).
For the other four mushrooms we could evaluate—reishi, shiitake, chaga, and agaricus—the evidence we hold rates them as either possibly ineffective or shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate their benefit for the conditions studied (like cancer, diabetes, allergies, and heart health). We hold no effectiveness ratings for enokitake.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-glucan from food sources is generally well tolerated, but concentrated supplements lack solid safety data—use caution. Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated short-term but causes dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset in some people; long-term safety isn't well studied.
Shiitake is safe as a cooked food but concentrated supplements carry little safety data; raw shiitake can cause a skin rash called shiitake dermatitis, and heavy exposure to spores or hyphae (filaments) can trigger allergic reactions and breathing problems in workers. Chaga and agaricus carry limited human safety data; chaga has been tied to kidney problems from high oxalate content in rare cases, and agaricus has caused hepatotoxicity (liver damage) in a few patients taking it alongside chemotherapy.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding: reishi, chaga, and agaricus safety data advise against their use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Beta-glucan, shiitake, and enokitake lack pregnancy/lactation data on file.

Through its beta-glucan, reishi, shiitake, chaga, and agaricus mushroom content, this product can affect your blood pressure drugs, blood thinners (anticoagulants), diabetes medications, drugs metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP2D6, and immunosuppressant drugs. The most serious interaction is a Moderate risk: reishi mushroom and chaga may increase bleeding risk when combined with blood thinners (anticoagulants/antiplatelet drugs) like warfarin or aspirin, especially at higher doses.

Beta-glucan and reishi both carry Moderate risks with blood pressure–lowering drugs (antihypertensives) — either could lower your pressure further than intended. Beta-glucan and shiitake may interfere with immunosuppressants used after transplants or for autoimmune conditions.
Reishi, chaga, and agaricus mushroom all theoretically carry Moderate risk with diabetes drugs: they may lower blood sugar too much, raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Shiitake also carries a Moderate risk with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 (a liver enzyme that clears many antidepressants, heart drugs, and others), though this effect hasn't been confirmed in humans yet.

organic Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
organic Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, chaga may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that chaga extract can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking chaga with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that chaga might decrease blood glucose levels and increase insulin levels. This has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, chaga might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro research suggests that certain constituents of chaga stimulate immune function. This has not been reported in humans.
organic Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) Mushroom
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, taking shiitake mushroom might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro evidence suggests that shiitake mushroom extracts stimulate immune function.
Maitake Mushroom extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
organic Himematsutake (Agaricus brasiliensis/blazei) Mushroom
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking agaricus mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In one clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are stabilized on conventional oral hypoglycemic agents, 3 of 29 patients taking an agaricus mushroom extract 500 mg three times daily for 12 weeks reported hypoglycemia, compared to one of 29 patients in the placebo group.
