PCOS Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by PCOS Nutrition Center
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking PCOS Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This probiotic blend contains 10 active ingredients—a mix of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species selected for potential gut health support. The main strains we have data on are Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus acidophilus, along with Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Bifidobacterium lactis.
The inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, gellan gum, vegetable stearate, and silica—standard capsule materials and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For many other claimed uses—allergic rhinitis, anxiety, cognitive decline, asthma, and athletic performance—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate them.
The product's full effectiveness for PCOS specifically is not established in the data we have.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. The most commonly reported side effects are mild—bloating and flatulence—though they haven't been specifically documented from Bifidobacterium breve.
Rare cases of gastrointestinal discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and flatulence have been reported, especially when taken with other probiotics. There have been rare reports of serious infections (bacteremia and sepsis) in critically ill or immunocompromised patients; however, these are uncommon and mostly in infants or people with serious underlying illness.
If you have a weakened immune system or are very ill, talk with your doctor before starting this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main medication type to watch. Since probiotics contain live organisms, taking antibiotics at the same time may reduce how well the probiotics work—separate the two by a few hours if you can.
Before you start this product, check your current medications against the interaction tool on this page to be thorough.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may be worth considering if you're looking for gut-health support, particularly for irritable bowel syndrome or antibiotic-associated diarrhea—though evidence varies by strain. The main caution is separating it from antibiotic doses to avoid reducing its effectiveness.
If you're immunocompromised, very ill, or pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist first before starting.

PCOS Probiotic by PCOS Nutrition Center Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
PCOS Probiotic by PCOS Nutrition Center contains several probiotic bacteria, and through its Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus acidophilus content, it carries a documented Moderate interaction with antibiotic drugs.
Since these probiotic preparations contain live organisms, taking antibiotics at the same time may kill a significant number of them and reduce their effectiveness.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. The key point is that antibiotics are the main concern—separating when you take them from when you take this probiotic can help preserve the live cultures.
We were unable to check several of the other probiotic strains in this blend: Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Lactobacillus plantarum UALp-05, Lactobacillus casei UALc-03, Lactobacillus paracasei UALpc-04, Lactobacillus salivarius UALs-07, and Bifidobacterium lactis UABIa-12. No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredient we could fully check—Lactobacillus acidophilus was reviewed for interactions beyond antibiotics and none were found.
Before you start this product, use the interaction checker below with your exact medications to be sure.
