by ProBioCare
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic 80 Billion against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
ProBioCare Probiotic 80 Billion contains 14 active ingredients, nearly all live probiotic strains (beneficial bacteria) plus a prebiotic blend to feed them. The probiotics include several Lactobacillus species—L. salivarius, L. plantarum, L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosus, and L. casei—and multiple Bifidobacterium strains—B. longum, B. breve, B. infantis, B. bifidum, and B. animalis lactis—along with Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Lactococcus lactis.
The prebiotic blend contains fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and larch arabinogalactan, which act as food sources for the beneficial bacteria. The product also includes inactive ingredients: capsule material, cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica, and calcium silicate.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence on these probiotics is mixed and often limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus shows possibly effective results for irritable bowel syndrome, antibiotic-associated diarrhea (the stomach upset that sometimes follows antibiotics), bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori infection.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For many other conditions this product might be marketed for—hay fever, asthma, common cold, anxiety, cognitive decline—the evidence in our data is insufficient to rate effectiveness.
The fructo-oligosaccharides and arabinogalactan similarly lack sufficient evidence in our data for the conditions they're studied in.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, people who are seriously ill, critically ill, or have weakened immune systems should use caution, as rare cases of bacterial bloodstream infection (bacteremia or sepsis) have been reported in these vulnerable populations, particularly in preterm infants.
The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal: bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and gas. The fructo-oligosaccharides can contribute to bloating and gas, especially at higher doses, though studies suggest doses under 10 grams daily are generally mild.
For pregnancy, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe, but probiotic supplement safety overall is not well studied in pregnancy, so discuss it with your doctor. Regarding breastfeeding, the data we hold is limited for most ingredients; check with your healthcare provider for personalized guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking ProBioCare Probiotic 80 Billion, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take antibiotic drugs—the live organisms in this product may be killed by them, reducing its effectiveness, and timing between doses matters. Also flag any immunosuppressant medications (including azathioprine, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, basiliximab, daclizumab, mycophenolate, muromonab-CD3, or sirolimus), as arabinogalactan may theoretically interfere with their intended effect.
Altogether, these interactions span 302 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a multi-strain probiotic that may help with a few specific digestive issues—particularly irritable bowel syndrome and antibiotic-related diarrhea—though evidence for many marketed uses is not yet established. If you take antibiotics or immunosuppressant medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first: spacing out doses or timing may be needed.
People with serious illness or compromised immune systems should check with their healthcare provider before starting probiotics.

Probiotic 80 Billion by ProBioCare Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ProBioCare Probiotic 80 Billion interacts with medications through several of its probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, and Bifidobacterium bifidum.
The most serious interaction is Moderate in severity and involves antibiotic drugs. Since these probiotic strains contain live, active organisms, taking them together with antibiotics might kill a significant portion of the organisms and reduce the probiotic's effectiveness.
Your doctor or pharmacist may recommend spacing out when you take antibiotics and this product.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, the arabinogalactan in this product carries a Moderate interaction with immunosuppressant drugs (including azathioprine, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, and others). Theoretically, arabinogalactan's immune-stimulating effects might interfere with the intended suppression therapy, so this combination needs professional guidance.
We were unable to check several probiotic ingredients in this product—Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactococcus lactis, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei, and Bifidobacterium infantis—because we hold no interaction data for them. Fructo-oligosaccharides (the prebiotic component) has been checked and shows no interactions documented in our data.
Use the medication checker on this page to confirm your exact drugs against these findings.
