Probiotic Supplement Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by BIOHM
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic Supplement against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Supplement by BIOHM
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
BIOHM contains five active ingredients, three of which are probiotics — beneficial live bacteria and yeast meant to support gut health. You get Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, and Saccharomyces boulardii, plus L. rhamnosus and an enzyme called Amylase.
The inactive ingredients — Rice Dextrin, Vegetable Cellulose, and ground Rice — are fillers and capsule material.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics is mixed. L. acidophilus shows possibly effective results for irritable bowel syndrome, certain bacterial infections, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
S. boulardii appears possibly effective for several types of diarrhea (including traveler's and antibiotic-associated), C. difficile infection, and some other conditions. B. breve and L. rhamnosus don't have the same level of evidence — for most conditions they're tested against, the data are either insufficient or lean toward ineffective.
The evidence we hold does not establish effectiveness for L. rhamnosus and Amylase.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in BIOHM are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is important if you're very ill or immunocompromised — in rare cases, live probiotic organisms have caused serious infections like bacteremia in critically ill patients and young infants. Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort can occur but are uncommon.
Because safety data are limited, talk with your doctor before starting this supplement, especially if you have a serious illness or a weakened immune system.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take BIOHM, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on any antibiotic drugs (Moderate interaction) or antifungal medications (Minor interaction). No interactions are documented for the other two ingredients we could check, but we hold no data for L. rhamnosus and Amylase.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BIOHM may be worth considering if you're dealing with IBS, traveler's diarrhea, or antibiotic-associated diarrhea and you want a probiotic with some evidence behind it. If you take antibiotics or antifungals, you'll need to time this carefully — ask your pharmacist.
Anyone who's critically ill or immunocompromised should check with their doctor first.

Probiotic Supplement by BIOHM Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BIOHM Probiotic Supplement contains live microorganisms that can interact with certain medications.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs (a Moderate interaction): because these probiotics are living organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time may kill them and reduce their effectiveness. You'll want to separate when you take antibiotics and this supplement — ask your pharmacist for the right timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Antifungal medications also interact with this product (Minor severity), for the same reason — the antifungals can kill the live yeast and organisms in the supplement. Altogether, these interactions span 222 individual medications.
We could not check two ingredients in this formula: L. rhamnosus and Amylase — we hold no data for them. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact prescriptions before you start.
