Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though caution is advised before use. Rare gastrointestinal side effects—including stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, indigestion, gas, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, and burping—have been reported, especially when combined with other probiotics.
In very rare cases, live probiotic bacteria have been isolated in serious infections like bacteremia and sepsis, usually in patients with underlying conditions that allowed bacteria to translocate (move) from their normal location. Bifidobacterium longum is generally well tolerated in healthy people but needs caution if you're seriously ill or immune-compromised; limited safety data exist, so check with your doctor before use, especially while breastfeeding.
Rare side effects include abdominal discomfort, gas, constipation, and one reported case of dry cough. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy; Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation.

Each vegetarian capsule is sealed in nitrogen-purged aluminum blister packs to serve as protection from factors proven to compromise stability of probiotics such as heat, moisture, and oxygen.
To further support resistance to low pH and the delivery of microorganisms to the small intestine, Adaptogen Research employs DRcaps gastro-resistant capsules. These specially designed, innovative capsules help slow exposure of actives to stomach acid and ensure more targeted release.

Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium longum BL-5
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
