ProDentim Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ProDentim against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of ProDentim by Justified Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
ProDentim contains eight ingredients, four of which are live-organism probiotics: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Bacillus coagulans, plus Bacillus subtilis. These are beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut.
The product also includes Fructooligosaccharides (a prebiotic fiber that feeds good bacteria), Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and an ingredient listed as Anti-Fungi 6S Complex. The inactive ingredients are cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide — standard capsule binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence is mixed and modest. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but possibly ineffective for atopic disease, and there's insufficient evidence for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections, but we don't have reliable evidence for hay fever, Alzheimer disease, or anxiety. Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS, though evidence is insufficient for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, athletic performance, cancer, and fatty liver disease.
Bacillus subtilis is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea but has insufficient evidence for athletic performance, cirrhosis, constipation, eczema, and diabetes. Fructooligosaccharides has insufficient evidence for osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, traveler's diarrhea, and high cholesterol.
For the remaining ingredients, we don't have effectiveness ratings in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though those with weakened immune systems should check with their doctor first. The live organisms can theoretically cause serious infections like sepsis or bacteremia, but this happens almost exclusively in critically ill or severely immunocompromised patients — it's rare in people with intact immune systems.
Common side effects are mild and gastrointestinal: bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, and burping can occur when taking probiotics or their prebiotic fiber; however, clinical trials show these are uncommon. Fructooligosaccharides in particular may cause gas and bloating at higher doses, though doses under 10 grams per day are generally mild.
Safety data for supplement-level dosing of several of these ingredients is limited, so if you're pregnant, nursing, or have a weakened immune system, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications if you take antibiotic drugs — space them out from ProDentim by several hours so the antibiotics don't kill the live organisms in the supplement and reduce its effectiveness. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could fully check, but always confirm your exact prescriptions with the search tool on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
ProDentim is a multi-strain probiotic aimed at IBS, digestive health, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea, with modest evidence backing some of those uses. If you take antibiotics, space them several hours apart from this supplement to avoid killing off the live organisms.
Healthy adults generally tolerate it well, though gas and bloating can happen early on. Talk with your pharmacist before starting, especially if you're immunocompromised, pregnant, nursing, or taking regular medications.

ProDentim by Justified Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ProDentim by Justified Laboratories contains four live-organism ingredients — Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bacillus coagulans, and Bacillus subtilis — each of which interacts with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction: when you take these probiotics at the same time as antibiotics, the antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the supplement, making the probiotic less effective. You'll want to space out the two.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beyond antibiotics, no other medication interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could fully check. We couldn't find interaction data for Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, or Xylooligosaccharide, so those remain unchecked.
Fructooligosaccharides has no known interactions documented.
Although the documented interactions span 182 individual medications, they're all antibiotics or antibiotic-class drugs — the same interaction repeated across four different probiotic ingredients. Before you start ProDentim, use the search tool below to check your exact medications, especially any you take regularly.

Lactobacillus acidophilus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bacillus coagulans
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
Bacillus subtilis
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
