Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: organic shilajit extract. Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine and has been studied for potential effects on energy, cognition, and sexual function.

Couldn't assess
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Shilajit product and its label doesn't state a use — see Shilajit's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold on shilajit's effectiveness is limited. For Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and osteoporosis, there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works.

You're essentially trying something where the science hasn't caught up yet — talk with your doctor if you're hoping it'll help with a specific health concern.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of cases have been reported: one person developed a severe allergic reaction (hives progressing to anaphylaxis) after taking a higher dose, and another rarely reported headache after taking it. More importantly, unpurified shilajit products may contain heavy metals or other contaminants — use only purified, tested brands like this one.

During pregnancy, safety data is insufficient, and there's a documented case of high blood pressure in a woman who took shilajit for 6 months while pregnant (though shilajit's role in that case couldn't be confirmed). Avoid shilajit during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, since safety isn't established.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Shilajit.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check your exact medications with the tool on this page. The main concern is antidiabetes drugs — shilajit may increase the risk of low blood sugar when combined with them.

If you take any diabetes medication, your doctor or pharmacist should review this with you first.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Shilajit is a traditional supplement with limited research backing its use for most conditions. The main concern is blood sugar — if you take diabetes medication, check with your doctor before starting this.

Avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. For everyone else, choose a purified, tested product and talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist if you're using it for a specific health reason.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
