What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Reishi Mushroom against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Reishi Mushroom by Gaia Herbs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: beta-glucans from an organic Reishi fruiting body extract. Beta-glucans are compounds that research suggests may help support heart health and cholesterol levels.
The capsule itself is made with pullulan, an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Beta-glucans in this product are rated likely effective for dyslipidemia (high cholesterol) and coronary heart disease. That means solid clinical evidence backs their use for those purposes.
The strength of evidence is in our data; your individual results will depend on dose, how long you take it, and your own health picture.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-glucans from food sources are generally well tolerated. However, concentrated supplements like this one lack extensive safety data, so caution is warranted — especially at higher doses.
Topically applied beta-glucan products have caused mild skin reactions in some people, though oral supplements in normal amounts appear safe. There is little research on supplement doses during breastfeeding, so caution is advised if you're nursing; talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood pressure medication (antihypertensives) or immune-suppressing drugs (immunosuppressants). Beta-glucans may lower blood pressure and could interfere with how immunosuppressants work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with cholesterol and heart health based on current evidence. If you take blood pressure medication or drugs that suppress your immune system, you'll want to clear it with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Even if you don't take those drugs, it's worth a quick check-in with your own healthcare provider before you start.

Reishi Mushroom by Gaia Herbs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Gaia Herbs Reishi Mushroom contains beta-glucans, which interact with two medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives) — beta-glucans may lower blood pressure on their own, so combining them with blood pressure medication could push your pressure too low (low blood pressure/hypotension).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beta-glucans may also interfere with drugs that suppress your immune system (immunosuppressants). The supplement appears to boost immune activity, which could work against what those medications are meant to do.
Always check your exact medications with the tool on this page before starting. If you take a blood pressure drug or an immunosuppressant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

organic Reishi fruiting body extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
