What’s inside
Full disclosure
Youtheory Shilajit 500 mg is a single-ingredient supplement containing shilajit, a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (vegetable cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, croscarmellose sodium, and silicon dioxide), which are fillers and binders that help form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence isn't established for shilajit in the data we hold. For Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteoporosis (weak bones), there is insufficient reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness.
Before using this product for any specific health goal, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of cases have been reported: one person developed an allergic reaction (hives and anaphylaxis) at a higher dose, and headache has been reported rarely in clinical research. A case of high blood pressure linked to mineral imbalance was reported in a pregnant person; the role of shilajit couldn't be confirmed, but it raises concern.
The safety data advises against shilajit during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Additionally, unpurified shilajit may contain heavy metals or other contaminants—use only purified, tested brands.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (insulin, metformin, glibenclamide, or others), check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding shilajit—the combination could lower your blood sugar too much. No other medication interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Youtheory Shilajit 500 mg may be considered by people looking for a traditional mineral supplement, but it's not right for anyone on diabetes medication without a conversation first. Pregnant people and those breastfeeding should avoid it.
Talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting it, especially if you take any prescription drugs or have diabetes.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
