T-100 contains 9 ingredients, including L-tyrosine (an amino acid), adrenal extract, dulse (a seaweed high in iodine and potassium), thyroid glandular extract, thyroid extract, pituitary extract, thymus extract, spleen extract, Irish moss, and bladderwrack. The active ingredients here are thyroid extract—which contains real thyroid hormones—and L-tyrosine, which your body uses to make thyroid hormones and other brain chemicals.
The glandular extracts (thyroid, pituitary, thymus, spleen, and adrenal) are derived from animal tissues. The rest are botanical extracts and whole-plant materials.
The product also contains inactive ingredients like cellulose, gum acacia, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and silicone dioxide, which serve as fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for most of these ingredients is limited or unestablished. L-tyrosine is effective for phenylketonuria (PKU) and possibly effective for cognitive function and memory, but only possibly ineffective for athletic performance.
Thymus extract is possibly effective for dilated cardiomyopathy (a heart condition) and respiratory tract infections. Thyroid extract, adrenal extract, dulse, pituitary extract, spleen extract, Irish moss, and bladderwrack all have insufficient evidence in our data to rate their effectiveness for the conditions they're used for.

How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-tyrosine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though common side effects at higher doses include fatigue, headache, heartburn, and nausea. The glandular extracts (adrenal, thyroid, pituitary, thymus, and spleen) all carry safety concerns because they're derived from raw animal tissues gathered from slaughterhouses—there's a risk of contamination, including concern about bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, a serious prion disease) if sourced from affected countries.
Thyroid extract poses an extra risk because it contains active hormones in uncontrolled amounts; taking it without medical supervision can cause abnormally high thyroid hormone levels and, in rare cases, thyroid storm. Dulse is generally safe as food but as a concentrated supplement carries unpredictable iodine and potassium levels with limited safety data.

The biggest concern is the thyroid extract in this blend: it contains active thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) that can pile on top of levothyroxine (Synthroid and others), raising your hormone levels too high and causing serious side effects.

You'll also want to watch dulse extract closely. It's rich in both iodine and potassium, which creates several interaction risks.
If you take digoxin (a heart medication), the potassium in dulse could raise blood levels of potassium too much. Thyroid drugs and antithyroid medications can be thrown off by dulse's iodine content, and amiodarone (a heart rhythm drug) already contains so much iodine that adding dulse on top could push your iodine levels dangerously high.
For people on ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or potassium-sparing diuretics—drugs that help your body hold onto potassium—dulse adds extra potassium and could tip the balance.
L-tyrosine in the formula can reduce how well levodopa (used for Parkinson's disease) works and may amplify the effects of thyroid hormones. Thymus extract carries a small risk if you're on immunosuppressants, because animal-tissue products can harbor contamination.
Spleen extract and adrenal extract have no documented interactions with medications in our data. We could not check pituitary extract, Irish moss, or bladderwrack.

Thyroid extract
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Theoretically, thyroid extract might increase the effects and adverse effects of levothyroxine.
Thyroid extract contains triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Taking thyroid extract increases blood levels of T3 and T4, in some cases to abnormally high levels.
Oral Drugs
Food and medications can interfere with thyroid hormone absorption. Some foods, particularly those high in fiber or containing certain minerals like calcium or iron, can bind to thyroid hormones and reduce their absorption in the digestive tract. Additionally, taking thyroid medications with certain drugs, like antacids or calcium supplements, can hinder the effectiveness of the thyroid medication, necessitating adjustments in dosage or timing. Prescription thyroid medications, such as Synthroid, are recommended to be taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food and other medications, for optimal absorption.
Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) extract
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, combining Fucus vesiculosus with amiodarone might cause excessively high iodine levels.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Amiodarone contains 37.3% iodine and can increase iodine levels. Concomitant use might increase the risk of having excessive iodine levels and adversely affecting thyroid function. Monitor thyroid function.
Antithyroid Drugs
Due to its iodine content, Fucus vesiculosus might alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking Fucus vesiculosus while using antithyroid drugs could alter the effects of the antithyroid drugs.
Lithium
Concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus and lithium has resulted in hyperthyroidism.
There is a case of hyperthyroidism occurring in a patient taking Fucus vesiculosus and lithium. Monitor thyroid hormones closely in patients taking lithium and Fucus vesiculosus concomitantly.
Thyroid Hormone
Due to its iodine content, Fucus vesiculosus might alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking Fucus vesiculosus while using thyroid hormone could alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking Fucus vesiculosus with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
In vitro evidence suggests that a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, known as fucoidan, has anticoagulant effects. However, in clinical research, fucoidan does not seem to have significant anticoagulant activity when taken orally, possibly due to poor absorption.
Cytochrome P450 2C8 (Cyp2C8) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2C8 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C8. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2C9 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C9. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2D6 substrates might alter the effects of these substrates.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, both inhibits and induces CYP2D6. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Thymus extract
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, patients taking immunosuppressants may be at an increased risk of infection from contaminated thymus extract.
Thymus extract is derived from raw bovine thymus glands and is at risk for contamination. Tell patients to avoid thymus extract products unless these products are certified as pathogen-free.
Dulse (Rhodymenia palmata) extract
Amiodarine (Cordarone)
Theoretically, combining dulse with amiodarone might cause excessively high iodine levels.
Dulse is rich in iodine, and amiodarone contains 37.3% iodine and can increase iodine levels.
Antithyroid Drugs
Theoretically, due to its iodine content, dulse might alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.
Dulse is rich in iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history.
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, dulse might increase the risk of hyperkalemia when taken with digoxin.
Dulse is rich in potassium, and digoxin can increase potassium levels in the blood. This interaction has not been demonstrated in humans.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, due to its iodine content, dulse might alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Dulse is rich in iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Although dulse has been associated with a statistically significant increase in thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in clinical research, clinically significant increases have not been documented.
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Theoretically, dulse might increase the risk of hyperkalemia when taken with ACEIs.
Dulse is rich in potassium. ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels. However, using these drugs while consuming dulse in quantities that provide larger amounts of potassium daily might increase the risk of hyperkalemia. Additionally, in vitro research suggests that dulse protein hydrolysates inhibit the activity of ACE. However, these effects have not been demonstrated in humans.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Theoretically, dulse might increase the risk of hyperkalemia when taken with ARBs.
Dulse is rich in potassium. ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels. However, using these drugs while consuming dulse in quantities that provide higher amounts of potassium daily might increase the risk of hyperkalemia. Additionally, in vitro research suggests that dulse protein hydrolysates inhibit the activity of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). However, these effects have not been demonstrated in humans.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Theoretically, dulse might increase the risk of hyperkalemia when taken with potassium-sparing diuretics.
Dulse is rich in potassium, and potassium-sparing diuretics can increase potassium levels in the blood. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) wholeplant extract
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, combining sea moss with amiodarone might cause excessively high iodine levels.
Amiodarone contains 37.3% iodine and can increase iodine levels. Concomitant use with sea moss, which contains approximately 4-7 mcg of iodine per gram, might increase the risk of adverse effects from iodine, including altered thyroid function.
Antithyroid Drugs
Due to its iodine content, sea moss might alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.
Sea moss contains approximately 4-7 mcg of iodine per gram. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking sea moss could theoretically alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.
Thyroid Hormone
Due to its iodine content, sea moss might alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Sea moss contains approximately 4-7 mcg of iodine per gram. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking sea moss could theoretically alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
L-Tyrosine
Levodopa
Theoretically, tyrosine might decrease the effectiveness of levodopa.
Tyrosine and levodopa compete for absorption in the proximal duodenum by the large neutral amino acid (LNAA) transport system. Advise patients to separate doses of tyrosine and levodopa by at least 2 hours.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, tyrosine might have additive effects with thyroid hormone medications.
Tyrosine is a precursor to thyroxine and might increase levels of thyroid hormones.
