Advanced Biotics contains 14 ingredients—a mix of probiotic bacteria strains designed to support digestive health. The active components are several species of live Lactobacillus (acidophilus, rhamnosus, casei, plantarum, and gasseri), Bifidobacterium longum, and Streptococcus thermophilus.
Each is a beneficial organism that colonizes the gut. The remaining ingredients are fillers and capsule material: tapioca starch, guar gum, ascorbyl palmitate, maltodextrin, ascorbic acid, tricalcium phosphate, and sodium stearyl fumarate.

The evidence for most conditions is not yet well established in the data we hold. Lactobacillus acidophilus shows a Possibly Effective rating for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
However, the other strains—Bifidobacterium longum, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus gasseri, and the three ingredients we couldn't check—all carry Insufficient Reliable Evidence ratings across the conditions they've been studied for, meaning we don't yet have strong proof they work for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, though safety data are limited and the live organisms do carry a theoretical risk of serious infection if you're critically ill or have a severely weakened immune system—that's why you should check with your doctor before using them if you fall into that category. Rare side effects reported with oral use include abdominal discomfort, pain, bloating, flatulence, constipation, and in one case a dry cough.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Bifidobacterium longum is rated Possibly Safe, but safety data on the other ingredients are limited or absent, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance. Since these are live organisms, probiotics should not be used in preterm or critically ill infants unless under medical supervision.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus R0418
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
