This probiotic has four active ingredients: S. boulardii (a beneficial yeast) and three Bacillus bacterial strains — B. subtilis, B. clausii, and B. coagulans. All four are live microorganisms designed to support digestive health.
The remaining ingredients are inactive — maltodextrin, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, and silica — which are fillers and capsule materials that hold everything together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
S. boulardii is possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea, traveler's diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and a few other digestive conditions. B. coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
For B. subtilis and B. clausii, the evidence we hold isn't strong enough to say whether they work — most uses list insufficient reliable evidence to rate them. Athletic performance, diabetes, and other conditions shown here don't have solid evidence yet for any of these strains.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three checked ingredients are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but there's an important caveat: they should be avoided by people who are critically ill, immunocompromised, or have central venous catheters or indwelling lines, because there's a rare risk of infection (bacteremia or fungemia) in those groups. In healthy people with intact immune systems, side effects are uncommon — you might see mild gastrointestinal upset, abdominal cramps, flatulence, nausea, or very rarely a headache.
One case of infection was reported in an older person with multiple serious conditions who consumed large amounts of B. subtilis var. natto. Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety data for these ingredients is not available; talk with your doctor before use if you're pregnant or nursing.

B. subtilis
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
B. coagulans
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
S. boulardii
Antifungals
Theoretically, taking antifungals with Saccharomyces boulardii might decrease the effectiveness of Saccharomyces boulardii.
S. boulardii is a live yeast. Therefore, simultaneously taking antifungals might kill a significant number of the organisms.
