Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains a single active ingredient: yarrow flower extract. Yarrow is a traditional herb used in folk medicine for a range of purposes, though the evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited (see the effectiveness section below).

The product has no inactive ingredients listed.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: healthy bladder function and urinary flow.
  • We looked for evidence on: urinary tract health, bladder support, normal urination.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

The evidence we hold for yarrow doesn't establish that it works reliably for any of its traditional uses. For tonsillitis, wound healing, atopic dermatitis (eczema), dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), and vaginal yeast infection, the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness.

If you're considering yarrow for any of these purposes, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports its use for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

When taken by mouth or applied inside the vagina, yarrow is generally well tolerated. However, topical use carries risk: it can cause dermatitis (skin inflammation), allergic reactions, hives, and in some cases phototoxic or photo-allergic reactions (sensitivity to sun after exposure).

Handling the flowers has also triggered respiratory symptoms like rhinitis and asthma in at least one case. Because yarrow is traditionally avoided in pregnancy — it may affect the uterus — the safety data advises against use during pregnancy.

There isn't enough safety information to recommend it while breastfeeding; talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Yarrow.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: lithium.
  • For scale: 1 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Yarrow is a traditional herb with limited evidence for the conditions it's used for. If you take lithium, you'll need to check with your doctor before starting it — the interaction is real.

Topical use carries a genuine risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions. Talk with your pharmacist before using it, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have sensitive skin.

Yarrow by Pure Herbs: Common Questions

Does Yarrow by Pure Herbs interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Yarrow has a known interaction with 1 medication. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Yarrow contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I use Yarrow if I'm pregnant?
No. Yarrow is traditionally avoided in pregnancy because it may affect the uterus. Do not use it while pregnant.
Is Yarrow safe while breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety information to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using yarrow while breastfeeding.
Does Yarrow work for wound healing (or eczema, menstrual cramps, etc.)?
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that it does. For wound healing, atopic dermatitis, dysmenorrhea, tonsillitis, and vaginal yeast infection, the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness.
What side effects can Yarrow cause?
When taken by mouth or applied inside the vagina, it's generally well tolerated. Topically (on skin), it can cause dermatitis, allergic reactions, hives, and phototoxic reactions. Handling the flowers has triggered respiratory symptoms in some people.
Why is there no interaction data for most medications?
We hold interaction monographs for ingredients we've been able to research thoroughly. For yarrow, the documented interaction is with lithium. Other interactions may exist but haven't been studied or documented yet — that's why checking your exact medications is important.
