Adenosine + Insulin Lispro
Insulin Lispro brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar.
We found no known interaction between Adenosine and Insulin Lispro in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the label for Insulin Lispro states a food rule worth keeping to, and the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Adenosine and Insulin Lispro
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Insulin Lispro and Adenosine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Insulin Lispro
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Insulin Lispro is filed under a single classification — antidiabetes drugs. Adenosine has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being dipyridamole (persantine) (major), carbamazepine (tegretol) (moderate) and methylxanthines (minor) — and none of Insulin Lispro’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Adenosine Does Interact With Other Medications
Adenosine has 2 major, 1 moderate, 44 minor known drug interactions in our database — Insulin Lispro isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

Some Insulin Lispro Products Have a Food Rule — Adenosine Should Not Break It
At least one FDA label for a product containing Insulin Lispro says to take it with food. If you take Adenosine on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Insulin Lispro with a meal where the label says to.
This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Insulin Lispro products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.
( 2.1 , 2.2 , 2.3 , 2.4 ) Subcutaneous injection ( 2.2 ): Administer HUMALOG ® U-100 or U-200 by subcutaneous injection into the abdominal wall, thigh, upper arm, or buttocks within 15 minutes before a meal or immediately after a meal.
From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Insulin Lispro — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. Read the label on DailyMed ›
A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Insulin Lispro
This page covers Adenosine only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Insulin Lispro page lists 239 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Siberian Cocklebur (major), Acai (moderate), African Wild Potato (moderate), Agaricus Mushroom (moderate) and Agmatine (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 208 moderate · 30 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Lispro page
“Blood sugar is the entire subject of this list. Insulin lispro (Admelog) is a rapid mealtime insulin dosed to bring glucose down after eating, and the supplements below can shove that same number around, most of them downward, which risks a genuine low.”

About Adenosine
What is Adenosine?
- Energy and cellular function support
- Athletic performance and muscle energy
- Circulation support
- General wellness
Adenosine is a natural building block your body uses for energy and cell signaling, and a prescription injectable version is used by doctors to treat certain fast heart rhythms. As an over-the-counter supplement (often sold as AMP or ATP), there is little strong evidence that swallowing it boosts energy or performance, and quality can vary. Talk to your pharmacist before using adenosine supplements, especially if you have a heart condition.
Naturally occurring purine nucleoside found in all body cells; supplement forms are made synthetically · Tablets, capsules, sublingual tablets, powders (often as AMP or ATP); prescription injectable form (separate from supplements)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Adenosine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Adenosine record says about it on its own.
Adenosine: dosing
There is no established standard dose for adenosine supplements. Products vary widely in form (AMP, ATP, or adenosine) and in the amounts they contain. If you choose to use a supplement, follow the directions on the product label and do not take more than recommended. Because supplements are not tightly regulated, quality and actual content can differ between brands; choosing products that have been independently tested can help. The prescription injectable dose is determined and given by a doctor and does not apply to supplement use.

About Insulin Lispro Injection
What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?
Brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar
Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.

Insulin Lispro Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Insulin Lispro as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Adenosine — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
