Andarine and Thalidomide

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Thalidomide and Andarine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Thalidomide

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Thalidomide is filed under 2 classifications — immunosuppressants, oral drugs. Andarine has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being androgens (moderate) — and none of Thalidomide’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Andarine Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Thalidomide. It is the side-effect record for Andarine on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Andarine — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Thalidomide’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Thalidomide column appears here.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Thalidomide page

“Thalidomide (Thalomid) works in part by quieting the immune system, which is exactly why most of the supplements on this page concern me. The large majority are herbs and extracts marketed as immune boosters, astragalus being one familiar example, and their theoretical effect is to push back against what thalidomide is trying to accomp…”

About Andarine

What is Andarine?

Andarine
  • Muscle building
  • Strength gains
  • Fat loss / body recomposition
  • Athletic performance enhancement
  • Bone density support

Andarine (S-4) is a synthetic selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that is not approved by the FDA for human use and is banned in sports. It is not a legal dietary supplement ingredient, its long-term safety in people is unknown, and reported side effects include vision changes and possible liver and hormone problems. Because of these risks and its illegal status, we do not recommend using it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Andarine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Andarine record says about it on its own.

Andarine: dosing

There is no established or approved dose for Andarine because it is not a recognized medicine or legal supplement. We cannot recommend a safe dose, and doses circulated online are not backed by proper human research.Given that it is unapproved, potentially unsafe, and illegal to sell as a supplement, the safest choice is not to use it at all.

About Thalidomide

What Is Thalidomide Used For?

Brand name: Thalomid

Thalomid (thalidomide capsules) is approved for two uses. First, it is used in combination with dexamethasone to treat newly diagnosed multiple myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow.

Second, Thalomid is used on its own to treat the skin symptoms of moderate to severe erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL), a painful inflammatory reaction that can occur in people with leprosy. It can also be used as ongoing maintenance therapy to prevent ENL from coming back. Note: Thalomid is not approved as the sole treatment for ENL when moderate to severe nerve inflammation (neuritis) is also present.
