Sofosbuvir, Velpatasvir, Voxilaprevir falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Ashitaba interacts with.

In vitro research shows that ashitaba extract inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A2. Theoretically, concomitant use of ashitaba with CYP1A2 substrates might decrease the clearance of these substrates and increase the risk for adverse effects. However, this interaction has yet to be reported in humans. Until more is known, use with caution.

Here's the gist with Vosevi (sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, voxilaprevir) and ashitaba. In test-tube studies, ashitaba appears to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. If that enzyme also helps clear part of your hepatitis C medication, then in theory the drug could linger a bit longer in your body and you might notice more of its usual side effects, like headache, tiredness, nausea, or diarrhea.

I want to be honest though: this is purely a theoretical concern based on lab work, not something that has actually been seen in people. The amount of ashitaba in food is unlikely to matter much, but concentrated supplements are a different story. Since clearing your hepatitis C is the goal here, just run any ashitaba supplement by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Sofosbuvir, Velpatasvir, and Voxilaprevir Used For?

Brand name: Vosevi

Vosevi is used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults who do not have cirrhosis or who have compensated cirrhosis (mild liver scarring that is still functioning). It is specifically for people who have already been treated with an HCV regimen before and need a different option.

Vosevi is approved for adults with HCV genotype 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 who previously took a medicine that included an NS5A inhibitor. It is also approved for adults with genotype 1a or 3 who previously took sofosbuvir without an NS5A inhibitor.
