Atogepant falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Your migraine prevention pill, Qulipta (atogepant), gets cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The thinking here is that atractylodes might slow that enzyme down a little. If it did, atogepant could hang around longer than usual, which can nudge up its everyday side effects like nausea, constipation, tiredness, or a lower appetite.

Now, the honest part: this idea comes only from animal and lab studies using high doses, and it has never been shown in real people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since both can affect your gut, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before you pair them, just so someone who knows your full list can give it a thumbs up.
