Why this applies to Silodosin

Silodosin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the short version for Silodosin (Rapaflo): your body clears this drug mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In animal studies using high doses, atractylodes appeared to slow a similar enzyme down. If that were to happen in people, more silodosin could linger in your system, which might nudge up its usual side effects, things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, a stuffy nose, or that backward (dry) ejaculation that Rapaflo can cause.

The key word is theoretical. This has only been seen in lab and animal work, never confirmed in humans, and the interaction is rated minor. So it's not something to panic over. Still, since silodosin already causes blood pressure dips, I'd mention any atractylodes-containing herbal formula to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Silodosin capsules are approved to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate that can make urination difficult, weak, or frequent. It helps ease those urinary symptoms so urine can flow more freely.

It is important to know that silodosin is not approved for treating high blood pressure, even though it affects certain receptors that can influence blood pressure.
